Bitcoin represents the first real-world implementation of a “decentralized autonomous organization” (DAO) and offers a new paradigm for organization kiến thiết. What is bitcoin?

Bitcoin is an open source software code that implements a decentralized, peer-to-peer digital cash payment system that does not require any trusted intermediaries to operate (e.g., banks or payment companies). Bitcoin as a decentralized autonomous organization

Bitcoin vs. banks

Social consensus: protocol upgrades

Underlying the Bitcoin payment system is the blockchain software supported by ongoing protocol updates (Wang and Vergne 2017). Miners consent lớn playing by the rulebook, but they can vote to lớn change it using the influence derived from their computing power. However, it is important to lớn note that the Bitcoin code does not assume away the problem of agency costs. Rather, Bitcoin explicitly deals with these long-standing problems by incorporating counterbalancing incentives in the code, making the payment system incorruptible.

In contrast lớn OSSD contexts, Bitcoin relies on a mixed community of volunteer developers & paid miners who jointly revise the organizational design through BIPs.
